Suppliers

In 2014, we cooperated with more than 17,000 offerors and 3,000 suppliers, and we completed more than 10,500 purchases and 1,700 electronic auctions.

Suppliers are another important stakeholder group for PKN ORLEN. What we buy and who we buy it from is of major importance to the Company. Therefore, we have developed long-standing partnerships with our suppliers to fully meet the Company’s requirements on an on-going basis.

What PKN ORLEN offers to suppliers:

  • Large-scale operations (PLN 106bn in revenue)
  • Financial strength - we are a reliable business partner
  • Growing spending on R&D projects

What PKN ORLEN expects of suppliers:

  • Long-term commitment
  • Preparedness to meet PKN ORLEN’s business requirements
  • Reliability and customer focus
  • Quality

Our suppliers provide raw materials and services necessary for the Company to run its operations. Our purchases are related to investments, production and maintenance projects; we buy electricity, biocomponents, supplies for service stations, production chemicals, and general-purpose supplies (administration, IT, professional services, logistics). Every year, we make purchases in 335 categories.

PKN ORLEN S.A. is one of the largest customers for natural gas in Poland, accounting for approximately 9% of the country’s annual gas consumption. In order to ensure security of supplies to the Company’s customers and own processing units, PKN ORLEN has built a diversified portfolio of gas suppliers over the past years. Gas fuel is delivered both by domestic and foreign suppliers. PKN ORLEN is also a member of gas exchanges in Poland (Towarowa Giełda Energii S.A.) and in Germany (European Energy Exchange AG), and buys gas directly through those platforms.

Our key suppliers include: Mercuria Energy Trading S.A., Statoil, Glencore Energy UK Ltd, Eni Trading and Shipping SPA, Total Oil Trading S.A., Rosneft Oil Company, Socar Trading S.A. (crude oil), or Vitol (natural gas).

In addition, in 2014 Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH and BP Europe SE supplied fuel to ORLEN Deutschland service stations in Germany (the Star brand).
